The State police of Telangana denied permission for the celebration of the Holi festival this year due to the recent rapid spread of coronavirus.


In Mumbai too the Holi celebrations were banned this year due to the rapid increase of Covid-19 cases in their state, this decision was taken by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). (No permission for Holi celebrations)

The Delhi government has kept restrictions on Holi celebrations this year as the Covid-19 cases in the city and state rapidly increased from 19 cases to 1,101 cases in just 24 hours. (No permission for Holi celebrations)

The Hyderabad city police denied permission to celebrate Holi this year to the recent surge in coronavirus cases in the city and state. The city police head, Cyberabad Commissioner of police department VC Sajjanar, announced of avoiding the Holi celebration was taken as a precautionary measure to the rapidly increasing Covid-19 cases in the state and city.


The police also warned about the strict actions against those who violate the rules and regulations.


In advance, the city police issued notices to the gated communities, hostels & event managers in the city to avoid any sort of Holi celebrations this year. The police also suggested wearing masks, sanitize & maintaining social distance from everyone in the state on Holi to stop the spread of the virus.


Due to this year's Holi celebrations, Cyberabad Commissioner of police department Anjani Kumar said that all the wine shops, bars, and toddy shops will be closed for two days.

Throwing colors at passersby on roads and vehicles is also banned by the police, and this is to be implemented strictly.

  • The police also issued a notice to the gated communities within the city, hostel owners, and event organizers to not hold Holi celebrations. They also made it clear to mandate the usage of masks and maintain social distancing.
